I worked for Gamestop/EB Games for 24 years until I was fired by my new/younger DM. My team and I had the best liked Gamestop around in Winter Park Village, FL!

Mt DM sent me to the worst store and fired me right after I finished the holiday with the highest profits, and after my father just died. I gave everything I had to the company for 24 years and lost everything I had earned, even denied a small unemployment. I was discarded like trash.

Gamestop holds the majority of the video game industry, so your options are limited. However, if you search, you may find a store that is managed properly and that values and treats it's customers well.

Reason of review: The way a valued employee was treated and then disposed of..

Preferred solution: Learn from this and treat employees with dignity..

Location: Sanford, Florida

I wanted to add that I was fired for arriving minutes after 9am although I never opened my store late(10am). This was due to looking after my father and taking my kids to school.

I don't recommend this job to anyone due to the high stress and low pay. You must force items on customers then ask them for a positive survey. Store managers work 44, 50, 60+ hours, but get paid for only 40. Company gives you an impossible task list and insufficient payroll.

This is why you see only 1-2 employees in a crowded store. PT gets minimum wage and 3 hours a week as well. Upper management and executives get the big bonuses and even bigger salaries. I wasted a quarter of my life, don't make the same mistake.

You CAN do better. I feel what happened to Moviestop is in the near future for Gamestop.

Also keep in mind my father just died and I was not thinking straight. I really wanted a new game, but with funeral expensiveness I was not thinking straight.

I stole the new game. It had not been opened yet, as I was about to leave the security took me to the office and I was fired. I offered to pay for the game, I even said that it was an accident. I tried to plead with them but these heartless people would not budge.

My father just died, that was traumatic and it lead me to making a bad choice. I was not clear of mind when I stole the game. I was treated like a customer who steals instead of like family or one of them. They refused to give me a second chance.

I asked for a vacation after my father died because I needed one. This is also part of the reason I was financially broke. I was still grieving after this making me not think straight. Nope they had to be heartless and fire me after six weeks after my father died instead of being understanding that I made a bad choice under stressful circumstances.

They also mistreat customers who are stealing.

One time a 14 year old boy was stealing games, and I felt bad for him he begged them not to call the police or his parents and they did anyway. That boy was already frightened, he would not do it again, but no they had to kick him while he was already down.
